November 15 | IOSONO and CGV bring 3D sound to Korean cinemas
CGV has recently opened two brand new multiplexes equipped with IOSONO’s 3D sound systems. CGV Cheongdam Cinecity and CGV Yeongdeungpo become the flagship theaters for CGV’s 3D cinema sound.
CJ CGV, the largest cinema chain in Korea, has decided to use IOSONO’s 3D sound systems for its newest theatre openings. The first domestic 3D cinema sound systems have been unveiled in CGV Cheongdam Cinecity and CGV Yeondeungpo with the presentation of Tarsem Singh’s “Immortals”. It is the first Hollywood movie to be mixed in 3D sound, adding impressive sound to the striking visuals. The IOSONO sound system in the new CGV theaters gives the audience an exceptional realistic and spatial movie experience, putting them in the scene they are watching.
CGV Cheongdam Cinecity, in particular, adds 3D audio to a 4DX screen, transposing a movie into a real-life experience. CGV’s 4DX is the next step in cinema technology, with motion chairs, special effects and from now with three-dimensional sound. “4DX is the most immersive movie experience, adding a lot of value to the cinema visit. Sound is a vital part of the concept and IOSONO is making movies sound so much more lively”, says Kim Joo Hyung, CEO of CJ CGV.
The IOSONO sound systems in CGV’s new 3D sound cinemas feature a ring of loudspeakers as well as additional ceiling speakers to create a full three-dimensional sound experience for movie goers that will have them at the center of the action. Olaf Stepputat, CEO of IOSONO, remarks: “We are very happy to work with CJ CGV, an established player on the Korean market. IOSONO is a perfect solution for cinemas and CJ CGV’s 4DX concept has great potential.”
