Internationally renowned for its cutting-edge technology and design, the museum’s Peltz Theater features an IOSONO sound system. Linden Lichtspiele Cinema, Ilmenau, Germany

Theater 3 at the Linden Lichtspiele Cinema is the first-ever movie theater to be equipped with an IOSONO sound system. At Linden Lichtspiele, Fraunhofer IDMT first demonstrated that wave field synthesis can be made to work in a real-world application. Moviegoers are treated to an IOSONO-encoded trailer, “Creating Waves”, which demonstrates the full potential of IOSONO’s technology. While audiences cannot yet watch IOSONO-encoded feature films, they still benefit from the IOSONO system since it vastly enhances the multichannel soundtrack by enlarging the sweet spot.

Digital Cinema at Fraunhofer IIS, Erlangen, Germany

The Fraunhofer Digital Cinema Alliance conducts research into digital cinema technology and offers innovative solutions for camera and projection systems, audio systems, and audio/video data compression and distribution. In 2008, the Alliance built a state-of-the-art digital cinema at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS in Erlangen. The trail-blazing IOSONO 3D sound system is a vital part of this showcase and testing ground for tomorrow’s entertainment technology.

HHI TiME Lab - Tomorrow's immersive Media Experience Lab

The TiME Lab - Tomorrow's immersive Media Experience Lab - at Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin is  a platform for new presentation formats and novel forms of content.
The Lab uses high-resolution projection technology to create a 180 degree panorama in a high-end presentation room, while 128 loudspeakers form IOSONO provide a stunningly lifelike multimedia environment. The Lab's foundation partners - the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Film and Television Academy (HFF) 'Konrad Wolf' - will use the HHI TiME LAB to try out new presentation formats for content and develop new forms of content for this special presentation environment. Further partners from creative media and technology are cordially invited to use the window of opportunity this platform represents for the development of new dimensions of multimedia experience.

Haunted Mansion at Disney World, Orlando,

Florida?From the entrance hall of the Haunted Mansion at Disney World, visitors are ushered into an octagonal room with expanding walls and portraits that transform before the visitors’ eyes. The concealed IOSONO sound system projects spooky sounds into the room, creating the illusion that spirits are floating around the visitors.

4D Movie Experience at Bavaria Filmstadt, Munich, Germany

In 2006, Bavaria Filmstadt, the visitor center of Europe’s largest film studios, installed an IOSONO sound system in a movie theater that showcases IOSONO-encoded material. 3D images, IOSONO 3D sound, moving seats and wind machines work together to put the audience at the heart of the action in a ride based on Michael “Bully” Herbig’s animated “Sissi” parody.

Odysseum Science Adventure Park, Cologne, Germany

The Odysseum is a brand-new multipurpose edutainment park – the first of its kind in Germany. At the Odysseum, children and teenagers can explore the world of science at over 200 interactive display stations. Visitors are greeted with an animated film presentation encoded with IOSONO 3D sound and played back through an IOSONO sound system.

Spanish Pavilion at Expo Zaragoza 2008, Spain

At Expo Zaragoza 2008, the Spanish pavilion featured a dome theater with a video screen that spread across the entire ceiling. The stunning visual display was complemented by the first use of IOSONO sound technology in a dome building. Visitors to the dome were immersed in a multi-media presentation named “Los Hijos del Agua” (The Children of the Water) that illustrated the importance of water in the earth’s ecosystem.

Faculty of Media at the Bauhaus University, Weimar, Germany

The Virtual Reality Systems Group of the Bauhaus University in Weimar have combined an IOSONO sound system with a projection-based stereo display in order to conduct research into several areas of virtual reality. The combination of both technologies makes it possible to create virtual objects (with both visual and acoustic properties) that can be moved around in a virtual environment.

Sound Engineering Department at Detmold College of Music, Germany

In May 2009, the sound engineering department of Detmold College of Music equipped its production studio with the IOSONO Spatial Audio Workstation plug-in. The plug-in was designed to integrate smoothly into Nuendo 4, Steinberg’s advanced audio/post-production system, and provides Tonmeister students with a powerful tool for creating content for IOSONO-enhanced environments.

CCSR at the University of Surrey, United Kingdom

The Centre for Communication Systems Research at the University of Surrey is the largest academic research center in mobile and satellite communication systems in the UK. In 2004, the CCSR’s virtual reality lab installed an IOSONO system, creating the first combined 3D video and audio virtual environment in the world.

The Competence Centre at TU Ilmenau operates an innovative audio-visual system that combines stereoscopic video projection with IOSONO 3D sound. This highly realistic virtual environment opens up new possibilities for product and process simulation, the optimization of human-machine-interaction (usability and ergonomic analyses) and similar applications.

Georgenthal Abbey Installation, University of Applied Sciences, Schmalkalden, Germany

Once the most significant Cistercian abbeys of Thuringia, Georgenthal Abbey was destroyed during the Peasants’ War in the early sixteenth century. The University of Applied Sciences in Schmalkalden and Fraunhofer IDMT have developed a unique visual and acoustic 3D installation to bring the abbey back to life as a virtual building. Thanks to the IOSONO sound system, visitors can experience the sounds one would have heard in the abbey, for example the altar bells or the liturgy.

M3 Lab at ETH Zurich, Switzerland

The Multi-Modal Motion (M3) lab of ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, investigates the neurological and biomechanical principles of human motor control and learning. The M3 Lab combines various technologies in order to facilitate multi-sensory interaction between the test system and subjects. An IOSONO installation provides highly realistic acoustical stimuli.

Tresor Techno Club, Berlin, Germany

From October 2008 until December 2010 the trend-setting techno club Tresor was the first venue in the world which used IOSONO technology on the dance floor. The IOSONO DJ/Live Interface, a touchscreen device that provides intuitive control over the IOSONO system, enables DJs to move virtual sound sources around on the dance floor, either in real time or using preprogrammed motion effects. The crowd is immersed in a three-dimensional soundscape that radically improves the club experience.

The KinderMedienZentrum in Erfurt is a business park set up by the Technology Foundation of Thuringia. It is home to IOSONO GmbH and various other media production companies and features a multipurpose studio equipped with an IOSONO sound system. All users of the KinderMedienZentrum can explore the application and the range of possibilities that our technology offers. IOSONO regularly uses the studio for presentations and production purposes.

The Shafallah Center, based in the capital city of Qatar, provides comprehensive educational, vocational and recreational services for children with special needs. The Center’s educational programs are supported by the most modern equipment and technology, a perfect example of which is a 208-seat planetarium.
