hardware and software
The control unit manages all central functions: audio server functionality, signal processing, and a routing system that handles internal and external connections, for example with an existing studio environment.
With the help of several rendering PCs, the powerful signal processor computes the wave field synthesis algorithm in real time. Its scaleable capacity adjusts to different needs, depending on the number of sound sources and loudspeaker panels used. Each individual loudspeaker is driven by wave field synthesis signals generated from the incoming audio signals and spatial parameters assigned to each sound source.
The audio files are stored and managed on the audio server, which uses an integrated hard-disk recorder. DVDs, CDs, or hard-disks can be used as storage media. An intuitive graphical user interface guarantees ease of use.
IOSONO-certified loudspeaker panels
To ensure the highest sound quality, IOSONO® speaker panels are built using premium components and on-board active amplification. State-of-the-art subwoofers are used for subsonic frequencies.
The number of panels and subwoofers used varies with the shape and size of the room. The speakers can be mounted on the wall, placed on the floor, or suspended from the ceiling.
IOSONO dj/live interface
The DJ/Live Interface accepts analog or digital stereo signals for real-time processing and control. MIDI inputs and outputs are also available. The first stereo channel is reserved for the main mix, which forms the basis of the DJ's or the sound engineer's live mix and has a predefined standard position.
The system is controlled through a JazzMutant Lemur touch screen coupled with a hardware MIDI controller which can be used to integrate additional hardware and software.
The DJ/Live Interface presents the additional audio channels as sound objects on the multi-touch interface of the Lemur touch screen. Objects are simply dragged to the desired position at the touch of a finger or moved with the help of automated motion effects.
IOSONO spatial audio workstation plug-in
The SAW plug-in has been designed to integrate smoothly into Nuendo 4®, Steinberg's advanced audio and post-production software.
Nuendo tracks and audio events are presented as selectable sound objects in the SAW pane. The engineer can automate a motion path for up to 32 objects at a time, which can be distributed with the help of a streaming-capable, object-oriented container format. The system then calculates the individual audio feed for each loudspeaker by correlating the desired x/y coordinates of the sound objects and the coordinates of the loudspeaker drivers.
